Detalles # 12: Venetian Alleys and Artisanal Shops

9:20 AM

Location: Venice, Italy

As much as the hustle and bustle of the Grand Canal appeals to me (yes it does), there's nothing more inviting than a walk along the city's secret back streets.

As you may already know, Venice is full of artisanal shops that specializes in a lot of products; from glass ornaments to carefully crafted sunglasses, leather goods to hand-made paper products- these shops are just around the corner of every piazza, waiting to be discovered.

Discover where Ernest Hemingway used to have his optical glasses customized and of course, get a chance to personalize your own (though you won't ever go wrong with their Classic design) at one of the city's oldest Optical Shops. The best part? It's just around the corner from the famous Piazza San Marco.

Intricately-made glass insects and animals with details down to the smallest strand, there's no doubt Il Lume di Amadi's Bruno Amadi is one of the best glass artisans in the Venetian Lagoon.

There's nothing more special than doing it old-school and sending a snail-mail to your loved ones back home using hand-made Italian paper with patterns dating back to the earlier times. Nothing screams "Italian" more than this!

After a day of exploring the shops, get yourself a Bellini at this world-famous bar. You can never go wrong with a Bellini after a successful shopping day.

The next time you're in the famous Canals of Venice, don't forget to check these artisanal stores out! I promise you won't be disappointed.

What is your favorite artisanal shop in Venice?
